SEBASTIAN JONGERIUS

NATHAN BIRES

Sebastian Jongerius graduated in May 2016 with a BAE/MAE with focus in the structural option of the Architectural Engineering program at the Pennsylvania State University, Sebastian has also earned a minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship. Sebastian has a diverse cultural background and work experience, having interned in a construction company in Haiti as well as a structural consulting firm in Pittsburgh, PA. Throughout his Penn State experience, he was able to partake in multiple group projects including the  Interdisciplinary Collaborative Design Studio where he took the role of a construction manager. This project introduced him to working in a fully integrated team where he was able to understand the importance of collaboration. This led him to join a team to partake in the AEI competition as a structural engineer. Sebastian will be part of SK&A in Washington, DC after graduation.

Nathan Bires graduated in 2016 with a degree in BAE/MAE with a focus in the structural option of the Architectural Engineering program at The Pennsylvania State University. Nathan Bires has experience not only in the field as an intern, but also in group projects, like the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Design Studio.  In Co-Lab, Nathan learned to work with multiple disciplines, which includes lighting/electrical and mechanical, while he worked on the structural design in addition to construction management. By working on multiple disciplines Nathan now has a wider understanding of the construction process.  Nathan Bires’s internship experience at Cagley & Associates helped him gain valuable industry experience which assisted with the AEI competition. Nathan will be working at Holbert, Apple, and Associates after graduation.
