CONSTRUCTION TEAM

ELI MANGES

STEVEN BUTZ

Steven Butz is a fifth year senior at the Pennsylvania State University majoring in Architectural Engineering in the construction option. For the past five summers, Steve has worked for Alvin H. Butz, Inc. in Allentown PA in various positions. During these summers, he has gained experience in the field as well as in an office and jobsite settings. Working as a laborer, he learned firsthand how a construction project is run in the field. During the summers of 2013 and 2014 Steve worked on the PPL Center, located in Allentown, PA assisting project managers and superintendents. This job taught him how to handle many tasks simultaneously during a very time-sensitive project. Group collaboration was also a major part of his job and school experience. Working in teams is a staple of the Penn State AE program and construction projects in the future. Through the AEI Group Thesis, Steve gained knowledge about the constructability of various systems while increasing his ability to work in a team setting.

Eli Manges is currently a fifth year senior in the ABET Accredited Penn State Architectural Engineering program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in construction management. Through his education he hopes to pursue a career designing, building, and managing the construction of sustainable buildings to create a future that is healthy for not only its occupants but for the environment as well. His passion for green design stems from growing up in the rural regions of the Appalachian ridge in the small town of Dunlo, PA. Surrounded by nature combined with a passion for the arts, the path has led him to where he is today. Eli’s work career for the last seven years was for an MEP specialty contractor with a focus in mechanical and plumbing system design and installation. During the summer of 2015 he interned for Wohlsen Construction as a Project Engineer and will return full time after graduation. Eli looks forward to this next stage in life made only possible through the support of his family, friends, and faith.
